Trump-Russia ties continue to spark 2016 presidential results controversy

The controversy surrounding the 2016 United States presidential election results continue to spark with greater ties to Russia becoming magnificent.

Reports have it that an ex-Russian "spy" has admitted that he was with Donald Trump Jr. at a controversial campaign meeting in 2016.

Rinat Akhmetshin, a former "Soviet counterintelligence officer", said he played a role at the same meeting Mr Trump Jr had with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

He revealed that the agenda of the meeting was glued to Russian government efforts to help the Republican party in presidential election campaign.

However, Mr Trump Jr did not disclose Mr Akhmetshin's presence in statements and emails he released on the meeting earlier this week.

The emails revealed Mr Trump Jr was told Russian figures wanted to pass on negative information about Democrat Hilary Clinton and stated plainly it was part of a government-sanction effort to help the GOP candidate.

In response, Mr Trump Jr wrote: "I love it."

Jared Kushner, Mr Trump's son-in-law and current White House senior adviser, and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort also attended the discussion.
