Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been released on a cash bail of Ksh5 million and two assurities of the same amount. However, his release comes with several conditions. High Court Judge Jessie Lesiit ordered Obado to hand over his travel documents to prevent him from leaving the country.
Delivering her ruling at Milimani Law Courts, Lessit has restrained him from being near the murder scene ‘anywhere within 20km of Homa Bay-Migori boundary’ and the court can cancel his bail at any time.
His personal assistant Michael Oyamo and County Clerk Caspal Obiero remain in custody after being denied bail because they may fail to appear in court and cause public disturbance. Pre-trial will be on Fbruary14, 2019.
Obado and his co-accused were arrested allegedly for the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.
