Donald Trump to cut $893 fund to World Health Organization amid COVID-19 pandemic

Us President Donald Trump on Tuesday announcing that will withhold funding to the World Health Organization (WHO), claiming that failed to handle the coronavirus outbreak.

The virus, which broke out in China, has killed over 125,000 people around the world, including 23,000 in the United States.

“With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have deep concerns whether America’s generosity has been put to the best use possible. The reality is that the WHO failed to adequately obtain and share information in a timely and transparent fashion,” said Trump

The US fund the Geneva-based organization with a total of $893 million and Trump administration seeks to withhold some portion of the money as it probes the organization.

He said that this can go for a period lasting either two or three months.

On Friday, the POTUS claimed that its epidemiologists had worked with China authorities to conceal crucial details of the outbreak.

He added that his administration has deep concerns that America’s generosity has been put to the best use possible, and that WHO did not move aggressively enough to obtain information from China about the coronavirus.

“The WHO failed to investigate credible reports from sources in Wuhan that conflicted directly with the Chinese government’s official accounts,” he said.
