American singer and song writer Selena Gomez was recently in the country, during a secret trip that no paparazzi realized.
But a day after she posted photos of her visit to Kenya on her Instagram account, Kenyans, netizens and the whole world came to learn of her secret trip.
Her posts were confirmed by her friend Raquelle, who accompanied the actress, saying that it was momentous to share with a group locals she posted in an Instagram photo.
"During one of our afternoons we had the opportunity to bead jewelry with a group of local mamas. Even though we didn't speak the same language, we had the best time together and were able to connect through eye contact, smiles, laughter and hugs," Raquelle shared adding, "We also visited two of the WE schools. The secondary girls school and the WE college where we were moved by the stories we heard, and inspired by the intelligent, confident girls we got to spend time with."
The controversy behind the revelation of Gomez visit to Kenya comes following a photo she posted posing with a Maasai moran.
Netizens have questioned the motive behind the television producer’s secret visit to the country, with some regretting “If the man (moran) new”
Gomez visit seemed less vocational as she revealed her engagement with the WE movement in the country.
“I will share many stories and voices that need to be heard. We are working on something so special that will hopefully change so many lives. This is all I can post for now. @We Movement, you do incredible things and i’m honored to be a part of the family! Just the beginning…my heart will be dedicate to people and serving,” Gomez posted on her Instagram.
The We Movement is a nonprofit organization that gives back to communities through various charitable works.
The singer said she has been working on a project with the organization in Kenya, which she’s yet to reveal.
Meanwhile, Gomez is also set for the release of her new art by January 2020.
"I'm so excited to reveal the art and title for my new album RARE, out January 10th. It's the most honest music I've ever made." – read Gomez message on her website.
